Our Pets are experiencing an increase in disease and ailments related to medications,
vaccinations and poor quality commercial pet foods.  They are as vulnerable as we are,

their health holistically and save money on Vet bills.   Here is help for our furry friends.

Someone wrote to us the following after reading article on mange that was more directed
toward treating dogs. We responded and wanted to share the instructions we gave with all
here.  Thank you for your questions!!

Can I assume some, or all of these suggested remedies are safe for cats? My cat's problem
is on his head and neck, so I am worried about his eyes . . . I've been trying daily applications
of lemon juice, followed later in the day with a mix of olive oil, garlic powder (from capsules,)
and goldenseal.

Our response:
I would like to ask if you know for sure if this is mange?
I have seen animals react to their vaccinations. If this occurred concurrently with
the vaccinations please use homeopathic treatment:

Thuya occidentalis Homeopathic to nuetralize the negative effects of the vaccinations.

and give one pellet every four
hours for three treatments, no food for 10 min before and after treatment
You may crush into powder and place on tongue wait 30 days before another treatment.
If no improvement seek out a homeopathic doctor. Also may add the following homeopathics as well.

If just mange:

Selenium Homeopathic 30C for excessive hair loss and no new growth.

Hair loss reflect the disturbance in the endocrine glands. Kelp is important in this case
5 - 20 mg of chelated zinc mentioned below. Flouride in water is important to remove.

Wash cat with Bonners Tea Tree soap. Rinse body
Slice a whole lemon and include the peel
add to 1 pint of near boiling water and let seep over nite.
Sponge the solution onto the animals skin
Add garlic powder and nutritional yeast to diet too.
So you are correct in this usage.

If it is mange caused by mites, which is rare in cats, usually the diet is the original
culprit. Commercial foods are poor nutritionally.

Good results will be improving diet firstly.
1) fast the animal for anywhere from 3 to five days. This is good for the animal do not
worry. If their weight is good and in general good health.

2) A natural diet is recommended. Cats have needs that can only be supplied from animal
tissue. They cannot convert beta carotene found in veggies to Vit. A. They need cod liver oil
or eggs. They also need arachidonic acid found in cod liver oil. Taurine is necessary and is
found in heart tissues and sea foods and some dairy such as cheese. Even in meat
the taurine an amino acid is 80% cooked out of the meat which is done in the canning
process. Taurine deficiencies cause degeneration of retina and heart mal function. These can be
reversed by using colostrum and eggs.

Use the following recipes alternating three feedings of mackeral loaf and then the polenta
Add one to two teaspoons of unflavored protein powder from the egg source or the lactalbumin.
zinc is advised an excellent one is dyno-mins. by weight cut the pill into quarters. Giving
one half of one quarter. You may also supplement with taurine supplement equaling 50 mg daily
A good cat multi vitamin should have zinc in it.  Do not give extra zinc if it is in this vitamin

Ear mites (otodectes cynotis) are common to most pets
Difficulty: Moderately challenging
Ear mites (otodectes cynotis) are common to most pets - especially strays. Symptoms include scratching,
shaking of the head and a reddish brown or black waxy buildup in the ears.
Instructions
STEP 1: Confirm with your veterinarian that your pet has ear mites.
STEP 2: Use a small dropper with lukewarm mineral oil to lightly coat the inside of the ear.
After several hours, the waxy buildup should soften so that you can clean out the ear with a cotton ball.
STEP 3: Ask your veterinarian about prescription insecticide or use an over-the-counter brand - these
are fine for most cases. Use the product as directed.
STEP 4: Be patient and thorough. Treatments can take up to four weeks - enough time to eliminate any eggs
                      that might hatch.
STEP 5: Give your pet mild flea baths during the treatment period to squelch any wayward mites.
STEP 6: Consult with your vet about more aggressive medication for a particularly stubborn case.
STEP 7: Treat all the animals in the household at the same time because the mites will relocate to new hosts.
Tips & Warnings
Check your pet's ears for a strong rancid smell. This could indicate an ear infection. Ask your vet for a medication
that will treat the infection and eliminate ear mites.
If you don't want to use traditional medications, dab mineral oil in your pet's ears (after they have been cleaned) with
a cotton swab, twice a week for a month.

Consider using an anti-yeast medication, since secondary yeast infections are commonly found with ear mite infestations.
