Parasites
Deadly fecal build-up on the colon wall becomes the perfect breeding ground for parasites. A parasite is defined as "an organism that grows, feeds, and is sheltered on or in a different organism while contributing nothing to the survival of its host."
Recent medical studies have estimated that 85% of the North American adult population is infected with at least one form of parasite. Some authorities feel this figure may be as high as 95%. Humans can actually play host to over 100 different kinds of parasites, ranging from microscopic ones to tapeworms that can grow to be several feet long. Parasites are most frequently found in the colon, but can also migrate to other parts of the body, including the liver, lungs, muscles, joints, skin, blood, and even the brain.
The most common sources of infection with parasites are insufficiently cooked meats (beef, pork and raw fish, especially), unwashed fruits and vegetables, travel to third-world countries, contaminated water, mosquitoes and pets.
Some of the most frequent signs of parasites in humans are:
- A constantly bloated abdomen
- Inability to lose weight
- Dark circles around or under the eyes
- Diarrhea or chronic constipation (sometimes both)
- Persistent acne and skin eruptions
- Teeth grinding
- Insomnia (especially waking between 2-3 a.m.)
- Cravings for sweets
- Moodiness
- Depression
- Chronic fatigue

Please note that although these symptoms can signal the presence of parasites,
they can also be signs of other illnesses.
Parasites have a highly detrimental effect on our health:
- They weaken the immune system, making us more vulnerable to infections.
- They feed on the most nutritious part of our diet and vitamins.
- They irritate the tissues of the body, inducing an inflammatory reaction.
- They produce toxic waste products which our bodies absorb.
- They destroy cells faster than the body can reproduce them, leading to an imbalance.
- They can perforate and damage the intestinal lining.
- They may cause obstruction, especially in the intestine and pancreatic bile ducts.
Life Cycle:
 Adult worms (1) live in the lumen of the small intestine. A female may produce approximately 200,000 eggs per day, which are passed with the feces (2) . Unfertilized eggs may be ingested but are not infective. Fertile eggs embryonate and become infective after 18 days to several weeks (3), depending on the environmental conditions (optimum: moist, warm, shaded soil). After infective eggs are swallowed (4) , the larvae hatch (5), invade the intestinal mucosa, and are carried via the portal, then systemic circulation to the lungs (6). The larvae mature further in the lungs (10 to 14 days), penetrate the alveolar walls, ascend the bronchial tree to the throat, and are swallowed (7). Upon reaching the small intestine, they develop into adult worms (1). Between 2 and 3 months are required from ingestion of the infective eggs
to oviposition by the adult female. Adult worms can live 1 to 2 years.
Candida
Candida condition may also be an underlying factor in the following diseases. However, it is often not diagnosed, misdiagnosed, disputed to even exist or is disregarded all together. Your Health is in Your GUT
Researchers at Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) took gut bacteria from mice that had gastric bypass surgery and implanted it into other obese mice. The result: accelerated weight loss in
the obese mice. The first important finding of the study, which was published in Science Translational Medicine, was that gastric bypass surgery altered the gut microbes of the first set of obese mice. The
second was that the altered implanted microbes prompted rapid weight
loss in the second group of obese mice.
Hypothesis would stand to reason why have gastric bypass when you
can alter your gut with the use of a good probiotic?!!
"Our study suggests that the specific effects of gastric bypass on the microbiota contribute to its ability to cause weight loss and that finding
ways to manipulate microbial populations to mimic those effects could become a valuable new tool to address obesity," stated study coauthor
Lee Kaplan, MD, PhD, director of the Obesity, Metabolism and Nutrition
Institute at MGH and associate professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Research published in January 2013 in Science highlighted an unlikely
way to block the development of type 1 diabetes in female mice —
exposing them to gut bacteria from the gastrointestinal tracts of male
mice. "It was completely unexpected to find that the sex of an animal determines aspects of their gut microbe composition ... and that the hormones in turn regulate an immune-mediated disease," said lead researcher Jayne Danska, PhD, in a release from the Helmholtz
Association of German Research Centres in Germany.
"Our findings suggest potential strategies for using normal gut bacteria
to block progression of insulin-dependent diabetes in kids who have high genetic risk," Dr. Danska added. The findings also suggested that
exposure to normal GI tract bacteria early in life may protect against
other autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid
arthritis, Crohn's disease, lupus, and even allergies and asthma.
